Smaggle meets Fifi Lapin – The world’s most stylish bunny

May I introduce you to Fifi Lapin? She’s the hare-ess of her father’s carrot and lettuce fortune and the sole surviving kitten* of her 257 siblings. Naturally her parents spoil her rotten, throwing platinum credit cards at her and allowing her free rain of the Champs Ellysees so she can drape herself in the stylings of YSL, Chanel and Valentino.

She has a gorgeous book What Shall I Wear Today? and a sweet little shop where she sells gorgeous enamel pins boasting her favourite outfits. I just had to have her Fifi Sweater pin. There’s been talk around town (and by town I mean other fashion blogs) that her pins are too expensive at $40 each. Personally, I believe this price is incredible when you factor in design, production costs and the fact that Fifi Lapin’s creator is a pioneer in the illustration industry. Fifi has appeared in Elle, Vogue and Marie Claire magazines to name a few and has become a household name amongst the style elite. What you are buying is a piece of fashion history. Also the shipping was $4.50. Bargain.

Please forgive my rant concerning blind consumers. I’m on a mission to make the average Australian understand the cost and value of independent designer goods and to think twice before buying chain store knock offs, particularly where accessories are concerned.

What about you? Have you ever splurged on a designer piece? Because you fell in love with the artist?

* Baby rabbits are also called kittens. I know it’s the cutest thing you’ve ever heard so take a few deep breaths and try not to wet yourself.
