Smaggle gets reacquainted with Miss Selfridge

When I was nineteen I hopped on a plane to England to visit some friends who were finishing up the last legs of their gap years. I landed in Oxford, a beautiful college city full of students and old buildings. That city taught this young Australian the joys of high street shopping. I indulged in Top Shop, Zara, H&M and of course Miss Selfridge.

I’ve been in desperate need of a leather biker jacket since my last one spewed its lining last winter after four years of faithful service. The wimp. Of course with the disgusting heat wave that’s plaguing our fair country I thought it was much safer to shop in snowy England for my coveted leather. I was right.

I found the perfect piece at my beloved Miss Selfridge. I carefully measured myself in accordance with their sizing guide and very maturely ordered a larger size than I normally wear to allow room for layering underneath. The jacket arrived rather quickly, within a few weeks and each buckle was wrapped in tissue paper to stop them from scratching the jacket. The postage was reasonable at $14.50 which is great for international shipping for a heavy item.

The jacket itself feels like butter and fits perfectly. Just a little slouchy so I can get my Fashion Toast on and still fit a few layers underneath. Despite the 38 degree heat I photographed it for you. Beautiful, is it not? I honestly cannot recommend shopping internationally for coats and jackets enough. In Australia we have super lame winters compared to Europe and the UK. So logically, they have a greater range in outer ware. Hop to it!

Have you ever bought a coat or jacket online from overseas? How did you go?
