Smaggle shops for jeans online… and experiences an epic win
So… who hates jeans shopping? Yay! Me too!
It’s just appalling isn’t it? Jeans are evil. They require the satisfaction of several different and extremely challenging criteria to achieve the perfect fit and it’s rare that anyone manages to tick all the mandatory boxes. Not impossible, but rare.
I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest jeans wearer as I find them extremely casual and often uncomfortable but they are a universal wardrobe staple that I’ve resisted for long enough. As a gal who’s a little hefty in the arse region I’m not stupid enough to blind shop for jeans online so I hit the mall.
I went to Just Jeans which errs on the daggy side of clothing stores but they play their music at a decent level and unlike other stores (where the jeans seem fit only to be worn by dolls) they have a large range of different styles.
On the recommendation of the lovely sales assistant, I tried on the Demi Curve straight leg in a dark wash and they were perfect. Utterly perfect. Heartbreakingly perfect. Do a little a celebration jig in the change room and smack your face on the mirror perfect. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, that actually meant they were too big and I needed the next size down. Which that particular store did not have in stock. Epic fail.
The sales assistant suggested that I try their online store which would source the jeans from which ever state in the country had them in stock. She also hooked me up with a Just Jeans card that gave me a 5% discount on all my purchases. Sweet. Shopping at Just Jeans was a breeze – shipping is standard at around the $10 mark and you can pay with PayPal so they get bonus lazy points because you don’t have to get off the couch to find your credit card.
The jeans arrived a week later, fit like a glove and have been worn regularly ever since. I was also given a fabulous tip whilst in the store. The sales assistant said that you should hardly ever wash your jeans, you should never put them in the dryer and if they ever need a ‘freshen up’ she recommended popping them in the freezer overnight to tighten them up and give them an air clean. It totally works too.
I did search for overseas merchants of the jeans but none seemed to ship to Australia which is incredibly frustrating as they are exceptionally cheap in America. The main benefit of shopping for jeans online is securing your correct size in a cult range of denim. Mine were shipped from Queensland as that style and size had sold out everywhere else on the east coast. Although it is slightly cheaper to buy them in store what’s a $10 shipping fee to get perfect jeans that are sold out everywhere but online?
What about you? Are you brave enough to buy jeans online? Do you have any tips for keeping your jeans looking new? Has anyone tried the new Levi range? What do you think?
