Smaggle embraces French fashion and surfs the web in search of the perfect pieces…

This spring, I’m feeling oh-so-French. I want smoky eyes, striped boat-necked tees, fitted maxi skirts and razor sharp cheekbones you could cut steak with. Ladies, I’m stocking up on some French inspired basics.

First stop was Metalicus. I’m a Metalicus devotee of the highest order. I have one of their dresses in black, nude and tie-dye. Instead of my usual maxi dress purchase I branched out and bought their Alive Cowl Neck Tank Dress in black. With some serious underwear and a nude trench coat this dress will be Parisian perfection. I also bought their Stripes Ahoy Tube Skirt that I’ll wear with summer sandals, giant sunglasses and a neckerchief. Audrey Tautou, eat your heart out.

Next on the list was All Saints. My blogger friend Alicia from Sea of Ghosts put me on to this store and I’m still mad at her for doing so, this site is a total money and time suck. Most items are made in natural fabrics and have the most perfect silhouettes. I just had to have the Adorabella Jumper Dress, Cropped College Cardigan and Bell Maxi skirt. I was rather restrained considering I have a serious addiction to luxury basics and this store is a veritable buffet of my chosen poison.

Next, I purchased a pair of simple low sandals from Funkis. I have several pairs of their shoes and they are comfortable, versatile and classic. I rarely go a day without receiving a compliment on them. Also the service from this store is impeccable.

I also had a little peak at Witchery and found the perfect spring skirt. My mission was almost complete but what’s a new wardrobe without a new scent? I spent a sneaky afternoon trying on perfume at a department store, decided upon Vera Wang’s Bouquet then promptly went home and ordered it on Strawberry Net for half the price they were charging in the store. I also bought cult classics Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturiser and Stila Illuminating concealer to give me that flawless French complexion.

I’ll admit I’m a little terrified of buying clothes online but armed with my trusty measuring tape and my preference for jersey like fabrics I remain hopeful that my new pieces will fit just as perfectly in real life as they do in my head. As for my steak-slicing cheekbones… well they’ll just have to wait until my obsession with camembert quells.

What about you? What look are you coveting for the coming seasons? And where are you shopping for them? Do share!
