Smaggle gets acquainted with her new sunnies

Remember my recent article about shopping for sunglasses online? Well, my delicious jewel encrusted Orotons arrived today. To be honest I was a little dubious about the purchase. Eyewear bling is a bit… Lil’ Kim for the likes of me. Thankfully, I went against my instincts. As it turns out, sparkly sunglasses are just like tinned chicken. It seems so wrong until you try it. I love my new shades. And incidentally, tinned chicken.

Unfortunately it took a full two weeks for my sunglasses to arrive despite being shipped within Australia. After receiving a rather curt email from yours truly the JustSunnies assistant assured me (via email on a Saturday morning – impressive) that they were waiting at my post office and had been there for days. My charming (sarcasm) postman had failed to inform me of this. If he had, I would not have sent an email to JustSunnies that had the word ‘unacceptable’ in it five times. Embarrassment much.

My man had a much more pleasant sunglasses buying experience. He ordered his gorgeous Tom Fords from Amazon on a Sunday night and received them no less than three days later. Major win.

After our little sojourn into the world of online sunglasses stores we came up with three main points to keep in mind before you hand over that credit card for your next pair of Ray Bans…

It’s best to pick a model in a shop and then search online for bargains.
If you are simply browsing online, only look for sunglasses that you know will suit you. Aviators bought online won’t make you look any more like Tom Cruise than the ones you try on in your local shopping centre.
Be a savvy shopper. Nothing is more satisfying than bagging a designer bargain but if the discount is just a little too generous then you need to put your detective hat and scope out whether or not the store is legitimate.

What about you? Have you ever bought sunglasses online? Would you consider it? What have been your experiences with buying sunglasses?
